A) I wish that I could attach laugh emoji’s in all the places that I laughed out loud reading this piece! Ahhh I can hear your voice so clearly reading this and loved every minute of it.
B) I’ve always wanted to do a triathlon for fun, but will never not ever do an ocean/lake swim. Just say no to monster soup. Is there a beginner triathlon I could do in a pool?
C) if the Alcatraz triathlon let people do one portion only, I’ll do the run with you and pack kids craft scissors in my sports bra.
And to think you did this more than once, didn't you??!! (Did I say Crazy right out loud?) And I think you even might have conspired with your BFF (my daughter) to perhaps get her to do it too . . right? (Crazy x 2). Well, thanks for the vivid and hilarious description - I loved it!!
Your details like getting knocked over by the six-inch wave, the cow bell, and use of the term "wog," cracked me up! Next time, LH and LM need to bring a getaway car. ;)
Lolol the incident report format made me laugh so hard. Thankfully I’m of that age that I don’t remember what I read a few years ago so this was an enjoyable one for me. I, too, hate when people ask me “what happened to your back?” Like I must’ve hurt it helping my neighbor move a couch last week or something. “26 years of wearing a duty belt and vest sitting in a car for 12 hours, descending cliffs, wrestling idiots and probably not enough crunches?” 😛 I hope you find something that helps your back feel better soon.
I am in awe of the fact that you voluntarily jumped into cold water and biked and ran long distances IN THE RAIN. I am even more in awe of your ability to deploy a perfectly placed f-bomb and to make me laugh out loud. Well done!
LM remembers this day! Super proud of her BFF! You crack me up. I would feel like I was there even if I wasn’t there.
You are the best MBBFF in the whole world. To get up at the crack of dawn and drive me and wait around in the rain all day. I will never forget.
I love you BFF!!!

You’re the best CHRISTY!
Thank you for reading and liking and making a sweet swet comment on my Substack Aly. It means more to me than you’ll ever know.

Thank you Carol!!! I did do that twice and your daughter won't even do that race. She did other ones, but not that one.

I don't hate it when people ask what happened to my back. I'm glad this made you laugh!
I love this. And also, I bow down to you that you even attempted this freaking race! Hope your back cooperates soon! xoxo
Thank you Julie!
Amazing that you remembered that much detail while completing the event.
Hope your back feels better soon.
Thank you Larissa.

Thank you! And jumping into the cold water and all that, especially in the rain, is my happy place. Yes, I am a wierdo.
Love your humor! I’ll hang out and pet the dog, however, while you triathalon.
Thank you!
🫣😂🤣 Thanks for the laughs! Better you than me 🤭
Thanks Lyssa!
